Kevin Bathurst enters his fourth year as general manager of the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers, bringing an extensive background in hockey with him. Through nearly 20 years of coaching, Bathurst has held positions with the University of Western Ontario Men’s Hockey team, the Calgary Canucks and Calgary Mustangs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, RINK Hockey Academy of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League and most recently a pair of seasons behind the bench with the Okanagan Lakers of the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League.

Bathurst obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in coaching from the University of New Brunswick in 2004. He then attended the University of Western Ontario, where Bathurst graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in Kinesiology in 2006. Bathurst’s full-time occupation is with Greater Vernon Minor Hockey Association, where he serves as the executive director of hockey operations.

Coach Brent Magnus has been involved in the Thompson Okanagan Lakers for 7 years. Magnus has more than 20 years of Minor Hockey coaching experience, serving as both Head Coach, Assistant Coach, and Manager at all levels with Vernon Minor Hockey as well as various private spring hockey programs.

In 2024, Magnus and the Laker's organization captured the BCEHL and Western Canadian Championships before appearing at the Esso Cup competing for the National Championship! The Vernon BC product holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from UBC Okanagan and works as an Energy Manager with Tolko Industries.

Tessa Kosec joins the coaching staff after a five-year U Sports hockey career with the Nipissing Lakers, where she played defence and served as an assistant captain. Tessa brings firsthand experience competing in a high-performance environment and a strong understanding of what it takes to develop and compete at the next level.

Tessa holds a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University. She is currently pursuing a career in teaching.

Tessa has experience coaching and mentoring in female hockey, including with the North Bay Junior Lakers as well as, hockey development programs such as Player Acceleration. She has worked with athletes across a variety of age groups and skill levels, leading skills sessions and supporting their technical, tactical, and physical development both on and off the ice.

Passionate about the continued growth of the female game, Tessa is committed to helping players develop the skills, confidence, accountability, hockey IQ, and competitive habits required at the U18 AAA level and beyond. She is excited to contribute to a competitive environment while supporting each player's development.
